Momentous Event

Options Theatre Company was invited to participate in the Australian National Museum’s MOMENTOUS Exhibition for International Day of People with Disability.

The MOMENTOUS Exhibition focuses on the impact of the bushfires and the lockdowns from the perspective of people with disabilities.

The film was Directed by Artistic Director, Stuart Smith who worked with the Options Theatre Company Crew to film, edit and produce a stunning short film titled, ‘REMOTE’.

The video is an artistic depiction of life in lockdown from the perspective of our very own star, Nathan Parker. Tanya Thurlby is also featured as the Auslan interpreter.

A remote control becomes Nathan’s only companion in his current stop/start world.
The inclusive ensemble of creatives at Options Theatre Company reflect on finding hope in this uncertain time.

The soundtrack “Don’t Give Up” written by Peter Gabriel, became an anthem for us during lockdown. Andrew Sampford and Amy Vee lend their voices to the song.
We reached out to Peter Gabriel and sent him the video. After viewing it, Peter sent us this lovely message.

“Really enjoyed it – lots of cool ideas.
Great job!
Thanks”

Peter
